DESCRIPTION:TThe Tuesdays Till Two summer season continues with a concert by Leicester-based Japanese pianist Mariko Terashi. Last year Mariko very kindly agreed to play for us at just 48 hours notice\, after another performer had to withdraw due to a family emergency. We weren’t quite sure what to expect\, but it’s fair to say that we were amazed by just how wonderful Mariko’s concert was that day\, so we had no hesitation in inviting her back for a return appearance this year. This lunchtime concert will again include baroque period music by Scarlatti and Seixas\, but also more recent works\, including one by Joe Hisaishi\, the composer for many of Studio Ghibli’s animated films\, a taster for Mariko’s next appearance on 29th October\, when she’ll be performing in a special candle-lit concert with violinist Tamaki Higashi\, when they’ll be playing more music by Joe Hisaishi. \nAs ever the church will be open for an hour before the concert begins\, with volunteers from the pop-up café team offering lots of home made sweet and savoury treats as well as hot and cold drinks. \nThe concert will begin promptly at 1pm. Admission is free\, but those who are able to afford it are asked to make a donation. The suggested amount is £5.

DESCRIPTION:Polish Heritage Day comes back to Leicester with its sixth edition to celebrate Polish heritage and culture. \nJoin us and celebrate early summer afternoon with Frederic Chopin music by the brilliant Japanese pianist Mariko Terashi. \nLearn about Chopin\, one of the most widely recognised Polish musicians\, and how his homeland\, Poland\, inspired his music and his life from the exhibition #LikeChopin and presentation prepared by students from the Polish Saturday School\, EduOwls. \nJoin fascinating talk on the development of the Polish community in Leicester since 1945 by Professor Kathy Burrell\, Reader in Human Geography at the University of Liverpool. \nPolish Heritage Day aims to promote openness\, appreciation\, and better understanding between the Polish community and the wider British society. \nThe Polish Heritage Days is an annual festival organised and run under the patronage of the Polish Embassy in London. The idea behind Polish Heritage Days is to promote and celebrate Polish culture\, heritage of past generations\, and Polish contribution to the cultural\, economic\, and social life of the United Kingdom.
